Hood Replacement Without Hood Scoops
Removal Procedure
- Open
the hood.
Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent
surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
- Apply tape to the corners of the hood and the adjacent surfaces.
- Remove the hood secondary latch. Refer to
Hood Secondary Latch Replacement
.
- Remove the hood latch striker. Refer to
Hood Primary Latch Striker Replacement
.
- Remove the hood insulator. Refer to
Hood Insulator Replacement
.
- Remove the washer pump solvent hose. Refer to
Windshield Washer Hose Replacement
in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Remove the washer nozzles. Refer to
Washer Nozzle Replacement
in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Remove the hood bumpers. Refer to
Hood Side Bumper Replacement
.
- Mark the upper hood hinge location to the hood with a grease pencil.
- Remove the assist rods from the hood. Refer to
Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts from the upper hood hinge, with an assistant.
- Remove the hood from the vehicle with an assistant.
Installation Procedure
- Install
the hood to the vehicle with an assistant.
- Align the hood hinges to the alignment marks on the hood.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts to the upper hood hinge, with an assistant.
Tighten
Tighten the upper hood hinge bolts to 18 N·m
(13 lb ft).
- Install the assist rods to the hood. Refer to

- Install the hood bumpers. Refer to
Hood Side Bumper Replacement
.
- Install the washer nozzles. Refer to
Washer Nozzle Replacement
in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Install the washer hose. Refer to
Windshield Washer Hose Replacement
in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Install the hood insulator. Refer to
Hood Insulator Replacement
.
- Install the hood latch striker. Refer to
Hood Primary Latch Striker Replacement
.
- Install the hood secondary latch. Refer to
Hood Secondary Latch Replacement
.
- Remove the tape from the corners of the hood and the adjacent surfaces,
if applied.
- Adjust the hood. Refer to
Hood Adjustment
.
- Close the hood.
