Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Clean the brake hose (4) and the
2 fittings (1, 5).
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.
- Hold the hose with a wrench. Loosen and disconnect the brake pipe flare nut.
- Install a cap or a plug to the brake pipe in order to prevent brake fluid
loss and contamination.
- Remove the brake hose retainer (2).
- Remove the brake hose from the bracket (3).
- Remove the fitting (5) from the caliper.
- Remove the brake hose from the caliper.
- Remove and discard the 2 brake hose gaskets (6).
- Install a cap or a plug to the caliper in order to prevent brake fluid
loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure
- Ensure the brake hose and the caliper mating surfaces are clean and free
of burrs.
- Remove the cap or the plug from the caliper.
- Align the peg on the brake hose with the dimple on the caliper.
- Install the following components to the
caliper:
• | 2 NEW brake hose gaskets (6) |
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the fitting.
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose to the bracket (3).
- Verify the brake hose is not twisted.
- Install the retainer (2).
- Remove the cap or the plug from the brake pipe (1).
- Install the brake pipe.
- Hold the brake hose with a wrench and tighten the brake pipe flare nut.
Tighten
Tighten the flare nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system at the rear caliper bleeder valve. Refer
to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
