Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 1356518  Size: SH
  4. Clean the brake hose (4) and the 2 fittings (1, 5).
  5. Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Hold the hose with a wrench. Loosen and disconnect the brake pipe flare nut.
  7. Install a cap or a plug to the brake pipe in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  8. Remove the brake hose retainer (2).
  9. Remove the brake hose from the bracket (3).
  10. Remove the fitting (5) from the caliper.
  11. Remove the brake hose from the caliper.
  12. Remove and discard the 2 brake hose gaskets (6).
  13. Install a cap or a plug to the caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure the brake hose and the caliper mating surfaces are clean and free of burrs.
  2. Remove the cap or the plug from the caliper.
  3. Align the peg on the brake hose with the dimple on the caliper.

  4. Object Number: 1356518  Size: SH
  5. Install the following components to the caliper:
  6. • 2 NEW brake hose gaskets (6)
    • The fitting (5)
    • The brake hose (4)

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Tighten the fitting.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the brake hose to the bracket (3).
  10. Verify the brake hose is not twisted.
  11. Install the retainer (2).
  12. Remove the cap or the plug from the brake pipe (1).
  13. Install the brake pipe.
  14. Hold the brake hose with a wrench and tighten the brake pipe flare nut.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the flare nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  16. Bleed the hydraulic brake system at the rear caliper bleeder valve. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  17. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
