Removal Procedure
- Release the park brake.
- Pull the park brake lever boot to the side.
- Loosen the park brake cable adjustment nut (1).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- If necessary, remove the propeller shaft. Refer to
Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
in Propeller Shaft.
- Remove the left rear cable grommet from
the clip (5).
- Wrap cloth or tape around the left rear cable (6) near the equalizer (1).
- Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, pull the left rear cable
forward and up in order to release the cable from the equalizer.
- Pull the insulation for the cable rearward in order to release the cable
from the bracket (2).
- Wrap cloth or tape (4) around the
cable near the rear clevis (3).
- Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, pull the cable rearward
in order to release the clevis from the park brake actuating lever (2).
- Pull the insulation for the cable forward in order to release the cable
from the control arm retainer.
- Remove the cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Push the park brake cable rearward through the control arm retainer in
order to install the cable to the retainer.
- If necessary, wrap cloth or tape (4)
around the cable near the clevis (3).
- Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, install the clevis to
the park brake actuating lever (2).
- Push the insulation for the cable forward
in order to retain the cable to the bracket (2).
- If necessary, wrap cloth or tape around the left rear cable (6)
near the equalizer (1).
- Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, push the cable forward
and down in order to install the cable to the equalizer.
- Install the left rear grommet to the clip (4).
- Remove all the cloth or tape from the cable.
- If you removed the propeller shaft, install the propeller shaft. Refer
to
Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
in Propeller Shaft.
- Adjust the park brake. Refer to
Park Brake Adjustment
.
- Lower the vehicle.
