The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
When diagnosing a battery draw on the 2004-2005 Pontiac GTO, it is important to be aware of the battery saver feature. This feature could cause a 127 mA draw (+/- 10%) for up to 255 minutes after the ignition key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The battery saver timer can be adjusted down to 3 minutes using the scan tool. Go into the BCM > Special Functions > Set Options > Battery Saver Time. Follow the on screen directions to adjust the time down to 3 minutes. Then, continue with battery draw diagnosis found in SI Document ID # 1338708.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
