Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2006 🢒 GTO 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 6.0L 🢒 Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the front suspension support brace. Refer to Front Suspension Support Brace Replacement in Front Suspension.
  2. Remove the left engine sight cover. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
  3. Remove the fuel rail supply line. Refer to Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Engine Compartment .

    4. Object Number: 697215 Size: SH
  4. Remove the ignition coil assembly. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement in Engine Controls - 6.0L.

    5. Object Number: 1408866 Size: SH
  5. Loosen the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  6. Remove the valve rocker cover.

    7. Object Number: 490696 Size: SH
  7. Remove the gasket (1) from the rocker cover. Discard the OLD gasket.

Installation Procedure

Important: 

   • All gasket surfaces should be free of oil and other foreign material during assembly.
   • DO NOT reuse the valve rocker arm cover gasket.
   • The valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets may be reused.
   • If the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve grommet has been removed from the rocker arm, install a NEW grommet during assembly.

  1. Install a NEW rocker cover gasket (1) into the valve rocker cover lip.

    2. Object Number: 1408866 Size: SH
  2. Install the valve rocker arm cover.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Tighten the valve rocker cover bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  4. Install the ignition coil assembly. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement in Engine Controls - 6.0L.
  5. Install the fuel rail supply line. Refer to Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Engine Compartment .
  6. Install the left engine sight cover. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
  7. Install the front suspension support brace. Refer to Front Suspension Support Brace Replacement in Front Suspension.
