- Secure the hood latch striker nut (3) in a vise and reassemble components,
if removed.
- Install the hood latch striker bolt (6) and it's components to
the hood (1).
- Tighten the hood latch striker bolt to achieve
a nominal length of 50 mm (2 in).
Important: Lubricate the end of the hood latch striker
bolt with lubricant aerosol GM P/N 12346293, or equivalent.
- Close the hood by dropping from a height of approximately 300 mm
(12 in).
Important: Do not push the hood closed, as damage to
the panel surface may occur. If the hood does not close on the first attempt, try
again from a slightly greater height.
- Verify the height difference between the front of the hood and the fenders.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: As required, also set the hood adjust bumpers
to align the hood height.
- Open the hood and adjust the hood latch striker assembly length by loosening
and holding the nut (3) while rotating the striker bolt (6) with a flat-bladed
tool.
Tighten
Tighten the hood latch striker nut to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
- Close the hood.
