Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to

- Remove the floor mats.
- Remove the right and left door sill plates. Refer to
Door Sill Plate Replacement

- Remove the right and left hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to
Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the right and left quarter trim panels. Refer to
Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to
Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the driver's and passenger front seats. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket
in Seats.
- Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel, Gages,
and Console.
- Remove the front floor console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- On vehicles with automatic transmission, remove the floor shift control
assembly. Refer to
Transmission Control Replacement
in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E/4L65-E.
- On vehicles with manual transmission, remove the shift control assembly.

Important: To assist in the removal and installation of the front floor carpet, the carpet
has been perforated from the front edge through the center of the evaporator drain
cut out, to the forward edge of the lower radio bracket.
- Remove 2 retaining clips (1) from the front floor carpet assembly (2).
- Remove 2 wire harness clips on the shift control assembly.
- Disconnect the necessary console electrical connectors.
- From inside the left foot-well, grab the edge of the hole in the front floor
carpet assembly around the evaporator drain hose (1) and tear the perforated
line (2) by pulling the carpet away from the transmission tunnel.
- Slide the remaining flap of carpet out from under the heating, ventilation
and air conditioning (HVAC) unit (3) and into the right hand foot-well.
- Remove the carpet and insulator assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- If a new carpet is being installed, cut the carpet along the perforated line
that runs from the forward edge of the carpet, through the evaporator drain hose (1)
cutout, to the forward edge of the lower radio bracket cutout.
- Install the carpet and insulator assembly into the vehicle.
- Make sure that all of the cutouts in the carpet are correctly aligned.
- To secure the carpet in place, install 2 carpet retaining clips (1)
and the front seat belt lower attaching bolts.
- Connect the necessary console electrical connectors.
- On vehicles with manual transmission, install the shift control assembly.

- On vehicles with automatic transmission, install the floor shift control
assembly. Refer to

- Connect 2 wire harness clips on the shift control assembly.
- Install the front floor console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
In Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel, Gages,
and Console.
- Install the left knee bolster. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Install the park brake lever cover (1).

- Install the right and left quarter trim panels. Refer to

- Install the right and left hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to

- Install the right and left door sill plates. Refer to
Door Sill Plate Replacement
.
- Push the seat track covers (1) together.
- Position the seat track covers (1) to the vehicle, then clip into
place.
- Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
in Seats.
