- Install the power steering pump (1) to the
mounting bracket (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the 2 bolts (5,6) in order to retain the pump to the bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 28 N·m
(21 lb ft).
- Apply GM Goodwrench Automatic Transmission Fluid DEXRON®-III,
GM P/N 12378470, or the equivalent ATF, in order to lubricate a NEW
O-ring for the high pressure port.
- Install the O-ring to the power steering gear inlet pipe.
Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Ensure the threads on the flare nut engage
the threads in the high pressure port with at least 2 turns of the flare nut.
- Install the power steering gear inlet pipe and the NEW O-ring to the high pressure
port on the pump.
- Tighten the flare nut.
Tighten
Tighten the flare nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install the reservoir outlet hose to the pump. Install the hose clamp.
- Install the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to
Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement
.
- Install the engine accessory drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory
.
- Install the intake components. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the drain pan.
Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.
- Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to
Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid
