This bulletin is being revised to update the time an order must be received in order for it to be shipped out the same day. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 03-00-89-037A (Section 00 -- General Information).
Important: "GM of Canada" dealers are not authorized to utilize this service bulletin.
Due to the uniqueness of the Pontiac GTO key blank, special equipment is required to cut a key for the Pontiac GTO.
To obtain a replacement key, the following procedure is suggested:
- Obtain the vehicle key code by accessing the "Key Code Look Up" application through GM DealerWorld under the Parts tab or from the Security Card provided to the owner at the time of delivery.
- Submit a part order through the GMSPO Parts System for a key blank. Be sure to include the key code in the "note" field of the order and indicate the preferred method of shipment (i.e. overnight, etc.).
- Assemble the new key to the key remote head (transmitter) using two screws.
- Insert the key into the ignition and turn to the RUN position.
- Program the transmitter to the vehicle. This can be done through the Tech 2® (TIS CD #11 available 10/20/03 via the web, or 10/24/03 via CD) for all model years. The manual procedure listed in SI only applies to 2004 model year vehicles.
Important: The order will be shipped the same day if received by 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST, or within 24 hours - Monday through Friday.
Important: This is a one-time program meaning a key can only be programmed once. Once programmed, the key cannot be revised whether on the same vehicle or on a different one.
For the manual procedure (2004 Model Year Vehicles Only), refer to Document ID 1349159 Transmitter Programming in the Keyless Entry sub-section of SI.
