Some early 1992 Grand Am Owner's manual portfolios have incorrect plastic emergency key cards.
Before or during vehicle prep, have the Grand Am portfolio emergency key inspected. If the key has the number 8002 stamped on the head - IT IS THE IMPROPER KEY. (See Figure 1)
The correct key has the number 8016 stamped on the head. You may also use the door only key 8014. USE ONE OF THESE KEYS. (See Figure 2)
To order replacement Grand Am keys at no charge, use the attached fax sheet. To order additional keys, refer to the attached reorder information sheet. (Figure 3 and 4)

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
