SUBJECT: SERVICE PARTS INSTRUCTION SHEET CYLINDER HEAD BOLT TIGHTENING SPEC INCONSISTENCY

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988-93 GRAND PRIX AND GRAND AM MODELS (VINS A,D,3)

ENGINE APPLICATION: 2.3L (LD2, L40, and LGO) -------------------------------------------- The 1988-91 model year 2.3L Cylinder Head Gasket Special Policy Bulletin 91-SM-4 and the 1992-93 model year New Cylinder Head Gasket, Bolts, Tightening Procedure and Service Manual Update Bulletin 93-6-1 issued 11/92 incorporated new head gaskets and new fastener tightening specifications.

Any service parts in the field prior to the publication of these two bulletins will have a different head gasket and fastener tightening specification on the instruction sheet than those identified in the above referenced service bulletins.

All service parts instruction sheets contain the correct fastener tightening specification for the cylinder head gasket enclosed in the package.

USE THE FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATION FROM THE SERVICE PARTS INSTRUCTION SHEET ONLY WITH THE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET ENCLOSED IN THE PACKAGE.
