Important: Remove one shock absorber (3) at a time, if both shock absorbers are to be replaced.
4.1. | When lifting the vehicle with the body hoist, it will be necessary to support the rear axle with adjustable jack stands. |
4.2. | When lifting the vehicle with the suspension hoist, care should be taken to align the axle on the hoist prior to lifting. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the shock absorber lower mounting nuts to 47 N·m
(35 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the upper shock absorber mounting nut to 29 N·m
(21 lb ft).
