For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Raise the front end of the vehicle off the ground. Ensure that the wheels turn freely.
  2. Remove the fluid return line from the reservoir inlet connector port.
  3. Plug the inlet connector port on the pump reservoir.
  4. Place a large container below the fluid return line in order to catch any draining fluid.
  5. Start the engine.
  6. Run the engine at idle while an assistant fills the reservoir with either of the following fluids:
  7. • Standard power steering fluid
    • Optional cold climate fluid

    Notice: Do not hold the wheel against its stops while flushing the system. Holding the steering wheel against its stops will cause high system pressure, overheating, and damage to the pump and/or gear.

  8. Turn the steering wheel back and forth.
  9. Continue draining the power steering system until the system is clear of old fluid.
  10. Add one quart of new fluid in order to flush the system.
  11. Unplug the pump reservoir inlet.
  12. Reconnect the return line.
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
