- Raise the front end of the vehicle off the ground. Ensure that
the wheels turn freely.
- Remove the fluid return line from the reservoir inlet connector
port.
- Plug the inlet connector port on the pump reservoir.
- Place a large container below the fluid return line in order to
catch any draining fluid.
- Start the engine.
- Run the engine at idle while an assistant fills the reservoir
with either of the following fluids:
• | Standard power steering fluid |
• | Optional cold climate fluid |
Notice: Do not hold the wheel against its stops while flushing the system. Holding
the steering wheel against its stops will cause high system pressure, overheating,
and damage to the pump and/or gear.
- Turn the steering wheel back and forth.
- Continue draining the power steering system until the system is
clear of old fluid.
- Add one quart of new fluid in order to flush the system.
- Unplug the pump reservoir inlet.
- Reconnect the return line.
