Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Lower the suspension support for clearance.

  3. Object Number: 509571  Size: SH
  4. Remove the hose clamps (4) from the return hoses (2,5).
  5. Disconnect the return hoses (2,5) from the cooler pipe assembly (3).
  6. Plug the open ends of the hoses.

  7. Object Number: 509654  Size: SH
  8. Remove the screws (3) securing the cooler pipe assembly (1) to the underbody.
  9. Remove the clips (2) from the cooler pipe assembly (1).
  10. Remove the cooler pipe assembly (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 509654  Size: SH
  1. Install the cooler pipe assembly (1) into position.
  2. Attach the clips (2) to the cooler pipe assembly (1).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the screws (3) securing the cooler pipe assembly (1) to the underbody.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.7 N·m (15 lb in).

  6. Unplug the hoses.
  7. Connect the return hoses (2,5) to the cooler pipe assembly (3).
  8. Attach the hose clamps (4) to the return hoses (2,5).
  9. Raise the suspension support and tighten the bolts in the order listed:
  10. Tighten

        • Tighten the center bolts to 120N·m (89 lb ft).
        • Tighten the front bolts to 120N·m (89 lb ft).
        • Tighten the rear bolts to 120N·m (89 lb ft).
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Fill the power steering reservoir with fluid, if needed. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  13. Bleed the power steering system, if necessary. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  14. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
