Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 509563  Size: MH
  1. Remove the line retainer (1), if applicable.
  2. Disconnect the gear inlet pipe (6) from the power steering pump (7).
  3. Disconnect the gear inlet pipe/hose (6) from the steering gear.
  4. Remove the gear inlet pipe/hose (6) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the gear inlet pipe/hose (6) in position on the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Connect the gear inlet pipe/hose (6) to the steering gear.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the pipe/hose assembly to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Connect the gear inlet pipe (6) to the power steering pump (7).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the gear inlet pipe to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the line retainer (1), if applicable.
  8. Bleed the air from the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  9. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
