Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front Coupe
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat
belt sleeve plug (3).
- Remove the driver or the passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve
bolt (4).
- Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide
cover by pulling up on the bottom of the cover (1).
- Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide
bolt (2).
- Remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarters.
- Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt
(5).
- Lift and pull the retractor to disengage.
- Remove the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt.
Installation Procedure
Important: Remove any twist in the seat belt webbing before final assembly.
- Install the driver or
passenger seat retractor side belt.
- Insert the top of the retractor into the mounting slots and pull
down.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the driver
or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt (5).
Tighten
Tighten the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt to
42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Install the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarters.
- Install the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide
bolt (2).
Tighten
Tighten the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide bolt
to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Install the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide
cover (1).
- Inspect the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide
cover for broken tabs. Replace any cover containing broken tabs.
- Install the driver or the passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve
bolt (4).
Tighten
Tighten the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve bolt
to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Install the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
- Inspect for proper operation of the seat belt assembly. Refer
to
Operational and Functional Checks

Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front Sedan
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat
belt sleeve plug (3).
- Remove the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve
bolt (6).
- Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide
cover by pulling on the bottom of the cover (1).
- Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide
bolt (5).
- Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
- Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to Roof.
- Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt guide (2).
- Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt
(4).
- Lift and pull the retractor to disengage.
- Remove the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt.

bolt (6).
Tighten
Tighten the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve bolt
to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Install the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
- Inspect for proper operation of the seat belt assembly.
