Was the Wiper/Washer System Check performed?

  1. Remove the WIPER fuse.
  2. Set the J 39200 to the amp scale and connect across the fuse terminals.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  4. Set the wiper switch to LO.
  5. Observe the lowest current draw while the wipers are running on dry glass (the current draw will fluctuate).

Is the lowest current draw less than the specified value?

3.5 A

Go to Step 3

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the lowest current draw greater than the specified value?

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

  1. Replace the wiper blade elements. Refer to Wiper Blade Element Replacement .
  2. Repeat the current draw test.

Is the lowest current draw greater than the specified value?

6.5 A

  1. Disconnect the wiper transmission linkage from the wiper motor crank arm.
  2. Repeat the current draw test.

Is the lowest current draw greater than the specified value?

6.5 A

Go to Step 8

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .
