The outside mirror has 2 reversible
motors:
• | One motor adjusts the mirror view up and down. |
• | One motor adjusts the mirror view right and left. |
The driver operates 4 switches that control the polarity of
the voltage to the motors. The mirror select switch directs these control
voltages to either the right or left outside mirror.
With the switches in the positions shown in the schematic, the left
outside mirror is being controlled. When the up-down switch is moved DOWN,
battery voltage from CKT 1732 is applied to the CKT 1499 and
the up-down motor in the left outside mirror. The left outside mirror up-down
switch supplies a path to ground through the following locations:
• | The DOWN contacts of the up-down switch |
The left mirror up-down motor moves the mirror down.
If you push the mirror control switch to the UP position, the same motor
receives voltage and CKT 1499 is grounded. The motor runs in the opposite
direction.
The left left-right motor operates in a similar manner when the joystick
moves the left-right switch to the LEFT position. CKT 1499 gets battery
voltage and the CKT 81 is grounded through the left-right switch.
The right outside mirror works the same way as the left outside mirror
when you move the mirror select switch to the right position and operate the
joystick.
Power Output Diagnostic Mode
The power output diagnostic mode in the multi-function alarm module
runs a quick inspection of the operation on the following controls:
• | The parasitic power control |
• | The courtesy lamp control |
• | The inadvertent power control outputs |
This diagnostic mode is activated after all of the following actions
have been performed:
• | Turn the interior lamps on using the panel dimmer switch. |
• | Turn the ignition switch to RUN and, before 15 seconds
pass, perform these steps: |
- | Open the right the front door. |
- | Cycle the headlamp switch from PARK to OFF 3 times. |
During normal operation, where no trouble is found, the multi-function
alarm module will flash the interior lamps for approximately 1 minute
and return to the normal operation. If a short is found in the inadvertent
output circuit (CKT 1733), the multi-function alarm module will chime
once every 3 seconds.
