Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front Coupe

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 165412  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
  2. Remove the driver or the passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve bolt (4).
  3. Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide cover by pulling up on the bottom of the cover (1).
  4. Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide bolt (2).
  5. Remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarters.
  6. Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt (5).
  7. Lift and pull the retractor to disengage.
  8. Remove the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Remove any twist in the seat belt webbing before final assembly.

  1. Install the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt.
  2. Insert the top of the retractor into the mounting slots and pull down.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt (5).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  6. Install the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarters.
  7. Install the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide bolt (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  9. Install the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide cover (1).
  10. Inspect the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide cover for broken tabs. Replace any cover containing broken tabs.
  11. Install the driver or the passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve bolt (4).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  13. Install the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
  14. Inspect for proper operation of the seat belt assembly. Refer to Operational and Functional Checks .

Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front Sedan

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 183719  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
  2. Remove the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve bolt (6).
  3. Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide cover by pulling on the bottom of the cover (1).
  4. Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt pillar guide bolt (5).
  5. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
  6. Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to Roof.
  7. Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt guide (2).
  8. Remove the driver or passenger seat shoulder belt retractor bolt (4).
  9. Lift and pull the retractor to disengage.
  10. Remove the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt.

  8. Tighten
    Tighten the driver or passenger seat retractor side belt sleeve bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  9. Install the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
  10. Inspect for proper operation of the seat belt assembly.
