Fill Limiter Vent Valve Replacement w/o EGR

Removal Procedure

J43288 Fill Limiter Vent Valve Tool


    Object Number: 183099  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Drain the fuel tank (1). Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  4. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  5. Remove the quick connect for the fuel vapor pipe from the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Remove the fuel pipes from the fuel pipe clamp (3).
  7. Turn the fill limiter vent valve assembly (2) clockwise using the J43288 .

  9. Remove the fill limiter vent valve assembly from the fuel tank.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 408535  Size: SH

    Important: The O-ring for the fill limiter vent valve must be replaced if the assembly is to be reused.

  1. Install the fill limiter vent valve assembly to the fuel tank.

  2. Object Number: 183099  Size: SH
  3. Turn the fill limiter vent valve counter-clockwise using J43288 .
  4. Install the fuel pipes in the fuel pipe clamp (3).
  5. Install the vapor pipe quick connect to the fuel sender assembly . Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  6. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the fuel tank.
  9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  10. Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
  11. 9.1. Turn on the ignition for 2 seconds, leaving the engine off
    9.2. Turn off the ignition for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn on the ignition, leaving the engine off.
    9.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
