Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the electrical
connector from the fluid level switch (1).
Caution: Brake fluid may irritate eyes and skin. In case of contact, take the
following actions:
• | Eye contact--rinse thoroughly with water. |
• | Skin contact--wash with soap and water. |
• | If ingested--consult a physician immediately. |
Notice: Brake fluid will damage electrical connections and painted surfaces.
Use shop cloths, suitable containers, and fender covers to prevent brake fluid
from contacting these areas. Always re-seal and wipe off brake fluid containers
to prevent spills.
- Position a suitable container under the master cylinder to catch the
brake fluid when removing the fluid level switch (3).
- Remove the fluid level switch(3). Use needle nose
pliers in order to compress the switch locking tabs at the inboard side
of the master cylinder reservoir.
Installation Procedure
- Install the fluid level
switch (1) into the master cylinder reservoir until the locking tabs
snap in place.
- Install the electrical connector to the fluid level switch (1).
- Fill the master cylinder. Use Delco Supreme No. II Hydraulic
Brake Fluid (GM P/N 12377967) or equivalent DOT-3 motor vehicle brake
fluid.
