Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer
to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the wheel cylinder bolts (2).
- Remove the wheel cylinder (3).
- Clean the old sealant from the backing plate where the wheel cylinder
was installed.
Installation Procedure
- Apply Loctite® GM P/N 12345382
or equivalent to the wheel cylinder shoulder face that contacts the backing
plate.
- Position the wheel cylinder (3) and hold the wheel cylinder
in place.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the wheel
cylinder mounting bolts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the wheel cylinder mounting bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the bleeder valve (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bleeder valve to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Install the backing plate. Refer to

.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Bleed the wheel cylinder. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Lower the vehicle.
