Are any of the wheel bearings worn or damaged?

Service or replace the faulty wheel bearing.

Check for a worn or damaged drive axle joint. Refer to Drive Axle Replacement in Drive Axle.

Is a drive axle joint worn or damaged?

Repair or replace the faulty drive axle joint. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Outer Joint and Boot Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.

Did the vibration stop?

System OK

Go to Step 5

  1. Check for out of round tires. Refer to Tire and Wheel Inspection in Vibration Diagnosis and Correction.
  2. Add air to or replace tires.

Did the vibration stop?

System OK

  1. Check for tire unbalance. Refer to Tire and Wheel Balancing in Vibration Diagnosis and Correction.
  2. Rotate or service tires.

Did the vibration stop?

Check for worn drive axle C/V joint. Refer to Outer C/V Joint and Seal Assembly in Drive Axle Unit Repair.

Is the joint worn or damaged?

  1. Check for correct drive axle trim height. Refer to Trim Height Specifications in Suspension General Diagnosis.
  2. Adjust trim height as necessary.
