Front Power Window Inoperative (Replace Regulator)

Subject:Front Door Power Window Inoperative (Replace Regulator)

Models:1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero
1999-2004 Pontiac Grand Am



Condition

Some customers may comment that the front door power window does not work.

Cause

    • If the window sash channel clip(s) are broken, go to Corporate Bulletin #01-08-64-012D.
    • If the regulator run channel guide(s) are broken, go to Corporate Bulletin #01-08-64-018D.
    • If the window motor is the cause, go to Corporate Bulletin #02-08-64-023A.
    • If the window regulator is the cause and the window motor is operational, replace the regulator only, following the procedure below.

Correction

  1. Remove the front door trim following the procedure in SI.
  2. Partially remove the top portion of the water deflector. Do not remove the bottom of the water deflector.
  3. Remove the regulator assembly following the procedure in SI.
  4. Replace the regulator following the procedure in SI.
  5. Reinstall the regulator, water deflector and door trim pad following the procedure in SI.
