Removal Procedure
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Disconnect the mass air
flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical
connector.
- Disconnect the breather tube from the air intake duct.
- Loosen the two air intake duct clamps and remove the air intake
duct.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly retainer screws.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly from the vehicle.
- Separate the mass air flow (MAF) sensor from the air filter element
cover.
- Remove the air cleaner element retaining screws and remove the
cover.
- Remove the air cleaner
element. Inspect the air cleaner element and replace if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the air cleaner
element in the air cleaner assembly.
- Position the air cleaner cover on the air cleaner assembly.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the air
cleaner retainer screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (40 lb in).
- Install the MAF sensor to the air cleaner cover.
- Place the air cleaner
assembly in the vehicle.
- Install the air cleaner assembly retainer screws.
Tighten
Tighten the air cleaner housing nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the air intake duct.
- Tighten the two air intake duct clamps.
- Connect the breather tube to the air intake duct.
- Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
