Sunroof Motor/Actuator
The sunroof motor/actuator uses internal sensors to continuously monitor the
location of the glass panel and to establish soft stop locations several millimeters
ahead of the hard stops (physical limits) of the glass panel. The sunroof motor/actuator
includes the sunroof motor, actuator, sensors and the control module. These components
are not serviced individually.
Sunroof Motor/Actuator Replacement
If the sunroof motor/actuator is replaced, the initialization procedure must
be performed in the following order:
- Place the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Press and hold the sunroof switch to the CLOSE position until the glass
panel stalls at the front hard stop in the fully closed position, and then moves back
to the soft stop position.
- Release the sunroof switch.
- Within 6 seconds, press and hold the switch button again to the
CLOSE position. After 3 more seconds, the sunroof window will move toward the
OPEN position. Continue holding the switch until the sunroof window stops at the closed
position.
- Release the sunroof switch.
- Verify sunroof operation. Refer to
Sunroof Description and Operation
in Roof.
The initialization procedure is not complete if one of the following actions
occurs before the procedure is complete:
• | The sunroof switch is not held in the CLOSE position. |
• | The ignition switch is turned to the OFF position. |
• | Battery positive voltage is removed. |
• | The glass panel did not reach the fully closed position. |
Sunroof Motor/Actuator Reprogramming
This component is not re-programmable.
Sunroof Motor/Actuator Re-Initialization: May Be Due To Related Component Service
If battery positive voltage or ground is removed and re-installed from the sunroof
motor/actuator, the following procedure must be performed in the following order:
- Place the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Press and hold the sunroof switch to the CLOSE position until the glass
panel stops at the front soft stop position.
- Release the sunroof switch.
- Press and hold the sunroof switch again to the CLOSE position for 13 seconds
or more. The sunroof will stall at the hard stop position, then move back to the soft
stop position.
- Release the sunroof switch.
- Within 6 seconds, press and hold the sunroof switch again to the
CLOSE position. After 3 more seconds, the glass panel will move toward the
full open position. Continue pressing the switch until the glass moves back to close
and stops at the closed position.
- Release the sunroof switch.
- Verify sunroof operation. Refer to
Sunroof Description and Operation
in Roof.
The re-initialization procedure is not complete if one of the following actions
occur before the procedure is complete:
• | The sunroof switch is not held in the CLOSE position. |
• | The ignition switch is turned to the OFF position. |
• | Battery positive voltage is removed. |
• | The glass panel did not reach the fully closed position. |
