FROM START OF PRODUCTION THROUGH APPROXIMATELY NOVEMBER 1, 1980, DIESEL ENGINE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH V08 (H.D. COOLING) USED A GENERATOR BELT THAT TRAVELED OVER THE CRANKSHAFT, WATER PUMP, POWER STEERING AND GENERATOR PULLEYS. THIS NECESSITATED THE USE OF A DUAL GROOVE PULLEY (P/N 559930) ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP. STARTING APPROXIMATELY NOVEMBER 1, 1980, ALL 1981 DIESELS WITH OR WITHOUT V08 (H.D. COOLING) USED ONLY THE STEP DRIVE GENERATOR BELT, I.E. GENERATOR BELT TRAVELS OVER WATER PUMP AND GENERATOR PULLEYS ONLY. THEREFORE, POWER STEERING PUMPS ON CARS WITH STEP DRIVE GENERATOR BELT, I.E. GENERATOR BELT TRAVELS OVER WATER PUMP AND GENERATOR PULLEYS ONLY. THEREFORE, POWER STEERING PUMPS ON CARS WITH STEP DRIVE GENERATOR WILL HAVE A SINGLE GROOVE PULLEY (P/N 22505005). G.M.W.D.D. (PARTS DIVISION) WILL CORRECT THEIR CATALOGS TO REFLECT THIS USAGE.
