STEERING KNUCKLE/BALL JOINT INSPECTION PROCEDURES

THE FOLLOWING INSPECTION PROCEDURES ARE RECOMMENDED WHENEVER SERVICING COMPONENTS IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION AREA. FUTURE SHOP MANUALS WILL INCLUDE THESE PROCEDURES IN THE APPROPRIATE SECTIONS. INSPECTION OF BALL JOINT SEALS-BALL JOINT SEALS SHOULD BE CAREFULLY INSPECTED FOR CUTS AND TEARS. WHENEVER CUTS OR TEARS ARE FOUND, THE BALL JOINT MUST BE REPLACED. INSPECTION OF STEERING KNUCKLE-INSPECT THE TAPERED HOLE IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE. REMOVE ANY DIRT. IF OUT-OF-ROUNDNESS, DEFORMATION, OR DAMAGE IS NOTED, THE KNUCKLE MUST BE REPLACED.
