LEFT FRONT TIRE RUBBING SPLASH SHIELD SCREW

CONDITION: THE LEFT FRONT TIRE ON THE 1981 LEMANS MAY RUB AGAINST THE SPLASH SHIELD INNER ATTACHING SCREW ON FULL LEFT TURNS. REFER TO FIG. 1. CAUSE: INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE TIRE AND THE SCREW. MAY BE MADE WORSE IF THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE PUSHES THE INNER FENDER PANEL OUTWARD. CORRECTION: 1.TURN WHEELS FULLY TO THE RIGHT. 2.REMOVE THE SHIELD SHOWN IN THE ILLUSTRATION. 3.REPLACE THE INNER CLIP WITH NEW CLIP, PART NUMBER 3844999. REPLACE THE BOLT WITH PHILLIPS SCREW. 4.REPLACE THE SHIELD, FIRST CHECKING THAT THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE IS FAR ENOUGH OUTWARD NOT TO INTERFERE WITH THE INNER ATTACHING SCREW. FOR WARRANTY PURPOSE, USE OPERATION NUMBER B1880 USING .2 HRS. THIS LABOUR ONLY CLAIM REQUIRES ZONE APPROVAL.
