PAINT TYPE IDENTIFICATION

TO OBTAIN SATISFACTORY REFINISHING RESULTS ON 1982 CARS, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE TYPE OF PRODUCTION PAINT (ACRYLIC LACQUER WATERBORNE, OR HIGH SOLI ENAMEL BE DETERMINED TO ASSURE AN ACCEPTABLE COLOR MATCH. ON SOME COLORS, ACRYLIC LACQUERS AND HIGH SOLID ENAMELS DO NOT HAVE THE SAME COLOR STANDARDS. THE SIX (6) COLORS THAT HAVE DOUBLE STANDARDS ARE: CODES 16-21, 45-55-68 AND 72. THE CORRECT COLOR AND PAINT TYPE CAN BE DETERMINED BY REFERRING TO THE BODY IDENTIFICATION PLATE (SEE FIGURES 1 AND 2). THE COLOR CARDS OF VARIOUS SUP- PLIERS, SENT EARLIER IN BULLETINS 82-I-22 AND 82-I-22A. SECTION 2, HAVE INFORMATION ON THESE PAINT MATERIALS.
