Some 1986 Pontiac 'G' models built before VIN G2265411 with (LG4) 5.0L engine and (NM5) Canadian Emissions may have an inoperative dual capacity accelerator pump solenoid due to a wire missing from cavity 'A5' of the instrument panel wiring harness bulkhead connector (Figure 1).
To repair this condition it will be necessary to make and install a jumper wire from the 'ignition 1' cavity in front of the fuse block (Figure 2) to cavity 'A5' (Figure 1) of the bulkhead connector.
The jumper wire should consist of:
1 - 12004892 Connector Body 1 - 8917928 Terminal 1 - 12034046 Terminal 30CM - No. 8 Ga. Black Wire
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
