PRELIMINARY SERVICE MANUALS INCORRECT DIAGNOSIS

It has come to our attention that in some instances incorrect diagnosis is occurring as a result of using the preliminary Service Manuals.

The complete manuals for 1987 vehicles have been mailed. Please discard the preliminary manuals for 1987 models and any other model years that might be left in your dealership.

It should also be kept in mind that product changes that occur after the manuals are published, only appear in bulletin form.

The latest information can only be obtained by using the complete Service Manuals and maintaining an accurate and up to date bulletin file.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
