TRANSMISSION APPLICATIONS: SUBJECT: ------------------------- ------- 1987 THM 200C (MV9) SLOW TCC APPLY - PLUG IN PUMP COVER

TRANSMISSION MODELS: VEHICLE APPLICATIONS: ------------------- -------------------- ALL MODELS ALL THM 200C EQUIPPED VEHICLES

Bulletin Covers:

When a new turbine shaft with a ball capsule was released for production, a plug (Figure 2, Item 222) should have been removed from the pump cover. This plug may not have been removed on all subject transmissions. If the plug is left in, a slightly slower torque converter clutch (TCC) apply may result. This slightly slower TCC apply is not a durability concern.

DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE: (Figure 1) ------------------------- October 8, 1986 (Julian date 281): New turbine shaft assembly with ball capsule.

December 15, 1986 (Julian date 349): Plug (222) removed from pump cover.

The plug (222) may not have been removed from the pump cover on a THM 200C built between October 8, 1986 (Julian date 281) and December 15, 1986 (Julian date 349).

SERVICE ACTION:

When servicing the pump on a THM 200C built on or after October 8, 1986 (Julian date 281), make sure the plug (222) is removed from the pump cover.

NOTE: When installing or servicing a Neutral/Drive shift package on a THM 200C built before December 15, 1986 (Julian date 349), make sure the plug is removed from the pump cover. General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
