INFO ON INCORRECT MEM-CAL REF. IN CAMS BULLETIN LIBRARY

Subject: INFORMATION ON INCORRECT MEM-CAL REFERENCE IN CAMS BULLETIN LIBRARY

Models Affected: 1989-90 GRAND PRIX MODELS

A recent error has been detected in the service information section of the GM-CAMS data base which incorrectly advises the dealer technician to refer to Service Bulletin 90-6-53 when diagnosing 1989-90 Grand Prix models with 3.1L engines for an engine stall condition on cold start-up. This bulletin applies to 1989-90 Pontiac Grand Prix models with 3.1L turbo charged engines only.

When diagnosing a 1989-90 Grand Prix models with a non turbocharged 3.1L engine for this condition, please refer to Service Bulletin numbers 89-6-60 and/or 89-6-69.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
