NEW WIRING HARNESS AND PRESSURE SWITCHES

Models Affected: 1990 ALL MODELS WITH 4T60 (440T4)

BULLETIN COVERS: (Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4)

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th clutch circuit pressure switches will have "button-headed" wire connectors instead of blade type connectors for easier assembly at the transaxle assembly plant and to reduce the chance of the connectors working loose. This change also requires new wiring harnesses.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

The new pressure switches and wiring harnesses will be available for service.

DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE:

Starting September 6, 1989 (Julian Date 249) some HYDRA-MATIC 4T60 (THM 440-T4) and THM F-7 transaxles will be built using the new pressure switches and wiring harnesses. By early November, 1989, all models should have the new pressure switches and wiring harnesses.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
