Generator Brace Replacement Front Brace 3100 L82 (VIN M)

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 45671  Size: SH
  1. Remove the generator front brace nut at the engine intake manifold.
  2. Remove the generator bolt.
  3. Remove the generator front brace assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45671  Size: SH
  1. Position the generator front brace assembly to the generator and the engine stud on the engine intake manifold.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the generator bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the generator bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the generator front brace nut at the engine intake manifold.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the generator front brace nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Generator Brace Replacement Rear Brace 3100 L82 (VIN M)

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 45671  Size: SH
  1. Remove the generator rear brace stud from the generator.
  2. Remove the generator rear brace nut from the engine stud on the engine intake manifold.
  3. Remove the generator rear brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45671  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator rear brace to the generator and to the engine stud on the intake manifold.
  2. Hand tighten the generator rear brace stud to the generator.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   4. Install the generator rear brace nut to the engine stud on the engine intake manifold.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the generator rear brace nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Tighten the generator rear brace stud.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the generator rear brace stud to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Generator Brace Replacement Front Brace 3800 L36 and L67

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the generator front brace nuts.

  2. Object Number: 162160  Size: SH
  3. Remove the generator front brace assembly from the engine.

  4. Object Number: 162169  Size: SH

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the generator front brace assembly to the engine.

  2. Object Number: 162169  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   3. Install the generator front brace nuts.

  4. Object Number: 162160  Size: SH

    Tighten
    Tighten the generator front brace nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

Generator Brace Replacement Rear Brace 3800 L36 (VIN K)

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 45675  Size: SH
  1. Remove the generator brace bracket bolts.
  2. Remove the generator brace bolt from the rear of the generator.
  3. Remove the generator rear brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 45675  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator rear brace to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   3. Install the generator brace bolt.
  4. Install the generator brace bracket bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the generator brace bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

    Tighten
    Tighten the generator brace bracket bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Generator Brace Replacement Rear Brace 3800 L67 (VIN 1)

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 216075  Size: SH
  1. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid from the generator rear brace. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement in Engine Controls-3.8L.
  2. Remove the generator brace bolts.
  3. Remove the generator rear brace.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 216075  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator rear brace to the engine.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener.   3. Install the generator brace bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the generator brace bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid to the generator rear brace. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement in Engine Controls-3.8L.
