Action

The power steering gear high pressure hose is grounding out.

Ensure that the power steering gear hoses are routed properly. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement or Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .

The power steering gear bearing preload is misadjusted.

Adjust the steering gear bearing preload to specification. Refer to Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle (Magnasteer) or Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle (Quiet Valve).

The steering gear is loose.

Tighten the steering gear mounting bolts to specification. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The tie rod end(s) are loose.

Repair or replace the tie rod ends as necessary. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

The steering intermediate shaft is loose.

Repair or replace the steering intermediate shaft as necessary. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
