Problem

Action

A burr is on the lock bolt.

  1. Inspect the lock bolt.
  2. Replace the lock bolt as needed. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

The actuator rod is restricted.

  1. Inspect the rod.
  2. Service the rod as needed. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

The following components are damaged:

  1. The lock cylinder
  2. The housing
  3. The sector
  4. The rack
  5. The park lock cable
  1. Inspect the components.
  2. Replace the components as needed. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

The ignition switch is stuck.

  1. Inspect the switch.
  2. Replace the components as needed.

Interference between the bowl and the rack coupling is present.

  1. Inspect the components.
  2. Service the components as needed. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

The shift linkage is maladjusted.

  1. Inspect the linkage.
  2. Service the components as needed. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .

The lock bolt spring is broken or worn.

  1. Inspect the spring.
  2. Replace the components as needed. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

The sector is incorrectly installed.

  1. Inspect the sector installation.
  2. Service the components as needed. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
