Linear Shift Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Removal

Tools Required
J 41396 Park Lock Cable Pliers

1. Remove the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .



2. Remove the electrical BTSI actuator from the steering column.
3. Use a small screwdriver to pry the electrical BTSI actuator from the steering column jacket assembly.



4. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
5. The steering column lock cylinder set should be in the off-lock position.
6. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove.



7. Remove 3 flat head 6 lobed socket tap screws from the linear shift assembly.
8. Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column.

J 41396 Park Lock Cable Pliers

1. Remove the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .



2. Remove the electrical BTSI actuator.

With a screwdriver pry the electrical BTSI actuator away from the steering column.




3. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).

The lock cylinder should be in the off-lock position.

4. Insert a small screwdriver into the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove.



5. Remove the hexagon flanged head bolt.
6. Remove the ball and actuator assembly (2).
7. Remove the shift lever clevis (1).



8. Remove 2 oval head 6 lobed socket tap screws from the shift gate.

Remove the park lock cable assembly.




9. Remove the hexagon flange head bolt.
10. Remove the cable shift cam assembly.
11. Remove the cam bushing from the cable shift cam assembly.



12. Remove 3 flat head 6 lobed socket tap screws.
13. Remove the gearshift lever assembly support bracket.
