Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement 3.1L

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.

  3. Object Number: 466875  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the inlet hose (3) from the heater inlet adapter pipe.
  5. UseJ 38185 in order to position aside the heater hose inlet clamp.

  6. Object Number: 190515  Size: SH
  7. Remove the heater inlet adapter pipe mounting bolt.
  8. Remove the heater inlet adapter pipe.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heater inlet adapter pipe.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the heater inlet adapter pipe mounting bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the heater inlet adapter pipe bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Connect the inlet hose (3) to the inlet pipe.
  6. UseJ 38185 in order to position the heater hose inlet clamp.
  7. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
  8. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
