The fasten belts indicator lamp in the instrument cluster stays on when turning the ignition key from the OFF to the RUN position with the driver's seat belt fastened, or the fasten belts indicator lamp stays on for over 77 seconds when turning the ignition key from the OFF to the RUN position with the drivers seat belt unfastened. The BCM sounds the fasten seat belt reminder chime for six seconds when turning the ignition key from the OFF to the RUN position with the driver's seat belt unfastened.

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  2. Observe the fasten belt indicator.

Is the fasten belt indicator off?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), measure the voltage between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal D12 and ground.

Is the voltage measured less than the specified value?

2 V

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
