Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement for Pontiac Grand Prix 1998

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Wiper/Washer System.



3. Remove the windshield washer hose from the air inlet grille.



4. Remove the push-in retainers from the air inlet grille, using the J 38778 .
5. Remove the screw from the air inlet grille.
6. Remove the air inlet grille from the vehicle.

1. Install the air inlet grille.



2. Install the push-in retainers to the air inlet grille.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the screw to the air inlet grille.

Tighten
Tighten the air inlet grille screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).




4. Install the windshield washer hose to the air inlet grille.
5. Install the wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Wiper/Washer System.
6. Close the hood.
