Important: Zero the digital multimeter (DMM) in order to avoid misdiagnosis.

- Turn the ignition switch to the ACCY position.
- Turn the radio ON.
- Insert the cassette tape or the compact disc from the J 39916-A
.
- Set the radio balance and fade controls to the detent (center)
position.
- Set the radio volume at a normal listening level.
- Connect a digital multimeter (DMM).
- While playing the combination test tone from the cassette tape
or the compact disc backprobe between terminal A and terminal B
of the inoperative speaker harness connector.
Does the voltage vary above the specified value?

- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Disconnect the amplifier connector.
- Connect a DMM.
- Measure the resistance by probing the amplifier connector between
the feed (+) and return (-) circuits of the inoperative speaker.
Is the resistance within the specified range?

| Inspect for continuity in the speaker feed (+) circuit
between the radio and the inoperative speaker.
