Has the vehicle been checked for diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's)

Does the speedometer on the instrument cluster operate normally?

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Drive the vehicle and compare the scan tool speed display to the instrument cluster speed display.

Do the 2 speeds agree with each other?

--

Go to Step 4

Inspect the vehicle for the following applications:

    • The tire size
    • The PCM calibration
    • The vehicle speed sensor application

Are the component applications correct?

Refer to Electronic Component Description in Automatic Transaxle - 4T60-E or to Electronic Component Description in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E

  1. Replace the following components, as needed:
  2. • The tires
    • The vehicle speed sensor
  3. Recalibrate the PCM, if needed.
  4. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect CKT 389 for an open, a poor connection, a short to ground, or a short to B+ between the instrument cluster head-up display (HUD) harness connector terminal A7 and the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 13.

Is CKT 389 shorted, open, or showing signs of excessive resistance between the instrument cluster head-up display (HUD) harness connector terminal A7 and the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 13?

  1. Repair the open, the poor connection, the short to ground, or the short to B+ between the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal K and the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 13.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the instrument cluster head-up display (HUD) for a poor connection.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster head-up display. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement .
  3. Inspect the system.
