Removal Procedure -- Left Insulator

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover


    Object Number: 182459  Size: SH
  1. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers from the left instrument panel (IP) insulator.
  2. Remove the courtesy lamp from the left IP insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Courtesy Lamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  3. Object Number: 455211  Size: SH
  4. Pull the left IP insulator rearward from the stud at the accelerator pedal.

  5. Object Number: 478483  Size: SH
  6. Remove the left IP insulator from the IP.

Installation Procedure -- Left Insulator


    Object Number: 478483  Size: SH
  1. Install the left instrument panel (IP) insulator onto the IP.

  2. Object Number: 182459  Size: SH
  3. Install the courtesy lamp to the left IP insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Courtesy Lamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  4. Object Number: 455211  Size: SH
  5. Align the IP insulator with the stud at the accelerator pedal.
  6. Install the push in the retainers to the left IP insulator.
  7. Push up on the left forward side of the left IP insulator in order to locate the ledge in the dash mat.

Removal Procedure -- Right Insulator


    Object Number: 478484  Size: SH
  1. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers from the right instrument panel (IP) insulator.
  2. Remove the right IP insulator from the IP.

  3. Object Number: 182459  Size: SH
  4. Remove the courtesy lamp to the right IP insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Courtesy Lamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Installation Procedure -- Right Insulator


    Object Number: 182459  Size: SH
  1. Install the courtesy lamp to the right IP insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Courtesy Lamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  2. Object Number: 478484  Size: SH

    Important: Make sure that the right instrument panel (IP) insulator does not block the floor heater outlet.

  3. Install the right IP insulator onto the IP.
  4. Install the push-in retainers to the right IP insulator.
  5. Push up and forward on the right IP in order to locate the ledge in the dash mat.
