J 37096 Flywheel Holding Tool

1. Remove the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.
2. Use the J 37096 in order to prevent crankshaft rotation.



3. Remove the eight bolts attaching the engine flywheel to the crankshaft flange and discard them.
4. Remove the engine flywheel.

Tools Required

1. Install the engine flywheel.
2. Use the J 37096 in order to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the new engine flywheel bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the engine flywheel bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft). Use the J 36660-A in order to rotate the engine flywheel bolts an additional 50 degrees.

4. Measure the engine flywheel runout:

4.1.	Install a dial indicator on the engine block and check the engine flywheel runout at three attaching bosses. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications .

4.2.	If the condition cannot be corrected, replace the engine flywheel.

5. Install the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.
