SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
O TRANSAXLE ERRATIC AND/OR NO SHIFTS O NO POWER WHEN ACCELERATING O STUCK IN 3RD GEAR AND/OR TORQUE CONVERTOR CLUTCH (TCC) FUSE BLOWS O INTERMITTENT MIL/SERVICE ENGINE SOON INDICATOR ILLUMINATED
WIRES TO THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH (TCC) SWITCH MAY CHAFE AGAINST A REINFORCEMENT RIB ON THE TRANSAXLE'S SIDE COVER AND THE BOTTOM OF THE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY. DAMAGE TO THE HARNESS MAY RESULT IN STORED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES OF P0711, P0712, P0713, P0716, P0717, P0741, P0748, P0753, P0758, PI810, PI860 AND/OR OPEN FUSE IN THE TCC CIRCUIT. THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE ONE OR MORE SHIFTING CONCERNS OR STUCK IN THIRD GEAR.
INSPECT AND REPAIR ANY DAMAGED WIRES AND INSTALL P-CLIP TO RE-ROUTE WIRING HARNESS.
PROCEDURE -
1. REMOVE THE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY AND AIR DUCT FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE IN SECTION 6 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.
2. INSPECT AND REPAIR ANY DAMAGED WIRES. REFER TO SECTION 8A OF THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR WIRE REPAIR INFORMATION. WRAP THE REPAIRED WIRES WITH FRICTION TAPE, AND INSTALL A PIECE OF PLASTIC WIRE HARNESS PROTECTOR/CONDUIT OVER THE REPAIRED AREA. WRAP THE PROTECTOR/CONDUIT WITH FRICTION TAPE TO PROTECT IT FROM FUTURE DAMAGE.
3. INSTALL HARNESS TO P-CLIP APPROXIMATELY 90MM (4 IN.) FROM THE TCC BREAKOUT AND ATTACH P-CLIP TO TRANSAXLE STUD (FIGURE 1) WITH THE PLASTIC CLIP FACING OUTBOARD AND TIGHTEN NUT TO 25 N.M (18 LB FT).
4. REPOSITION THE REPAIRED HARNESS TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY CLEARANCE TO INSTALL THE AIR DUCT AND CLEANER ASSEMBLY FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE IN SECTION 6 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.
