Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

  1. Remove the power window switch. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 315644  Size: MH
  3. Remove the trim panel plugs (located under the pull handle) to gain access to the trim panel screws.
  4. Remove the trim panel screws.
  5. Use the J 38778 in order to disengage the fasteners from the door inner panel.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors as equipped.
  7. Pull the trim panel straight off the door.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 315644  Size: MH

    Important: Before installing the door trim panel to the door, discard the old trim panel retainers. Use new trim panel retainers in order to properly secure the trim panel to the door.

  1. Install the new trim panel retainers to the trim panel.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors as equipped.
  3. Push the trim panel straight onto the door.
  4. Press the trim panel in order to secure the fasteners into the door.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the trim panel screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the inner trim panel screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the trim panel plugs over the screws.
  9. Install the power window switch. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .
