There is excessive back pressure in the power steering hoses.

1. Inspect the power steering hoses for restrictions. Refer to Power Steering System Test .
2. Replace the power steering hoses as needed. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement or Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .

There is excessive back pressure in the power steering gear.

1. Inspect the power steering gear for restrictions. Refer to Power Steering System Test .
2. Replace the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

The pressure plate is scored.

Replace the pressure plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The thrust plate is scored.

Replace the thrust plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The rotor is scored.

Replace the rotor. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The pump ring is worn.

Replace the pump ring. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
