Noise When Tilting Steering Column for Pontiac Grand Prix 2000

A tilt spring is rubbing in the tilt head assembly.

1. Inspect the tilt spring and the tilt head assembly.
2. Service the components as needed. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle or Tilt Spring - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Tilt Spring - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The upper tilt bumpers are worn.

1. Inspect the upper tilt bumpers.
2. Service the components as needed.Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle or Tilt Spring - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Tilt Spring - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
